Two hundred attendees were tantalized
with over 80 handbags and asked to put their “best bid forward” in the hopes of taking
home a beautiful new or pre-loved bag. One of the most memorable
moments came when honoree - Pat Petrone gave an emotional
and passionate speech about her passion for helping terminally
ill children. Karen Miller summed up the evening in three
words, “It was magical.”
The evening resulted in one
of the most successful events
for the Huntington Breast Cancer Coalition (HBCAC) and the
program “Prevention Is The Cure (PITC).”
The proceeds are being used specifically for the “Student
and Scientist Environmental Research Scholarship Program.”
This program allows high school students in the Huntington
area an opportunity to work beside world renowned researchers
in cancer and disease research laboratories during a summer
internship program.
